Jas Charanivya is a contemporary street artist from India who was born in the U.K. and lived in the U.S. Her inspiration came from punk and Mexican murals. A shocking rape case in India in 2012 that sparked conversation sparked the idea for her piece “Don’t Mess With Me” and makes social commentary by creating a traditional Indian woman with brass knuckles and the new attitude of modern women and their safety in India. This art helps to inspire women and emphasize the strong attitude of women.
